Anxiety Insomnia

Anxiety and insomnia are inter-related cannot be denied.  The close relationship between these two conditions proves that addressing either one of the problem will also help in the treatment of the other.  Anxiety or too much stress can cause a person to acquire sleeping disorders like insomnia.  On the other hand, people suffering from insomnia can also develop anxiety disorder. 

Sleep plays a very important part role in our mind’s state of well-being.  Without enough sleep, we can easily suffer other consequences such as mood swings, irritability, weakness, and lack of focus, slowness, lethargy, and others.

Herbal medicines are also being recommended even by professional doctors.  The most popular herbal plants used in the treatment of insomnia are passion flower, chamomile, skullcap, hops and valerian.  One advantage of resorting to herbal medicines is that these plants do not just cure insomnia but are also known to lessen and eliminate tension, nervousness, headaches, muscle pain, heart palpitations, restlessness and other symptoms that are experienced by people with anxiety problems. 
A person with anxiety and insomnia may also be advised to make some changes in his eating habits and way of life.  Balanced diet often contributes to a person’s health and well-being.  Avoiding certain foods such as white bread, white rice, softdrinks, coffee, fatty foods, preprocessed foods that contain trans fatty acid, and foods with high sugar content can make a big difference in preventing sleeplessness and anxiety attacks.  Lastly, experts have proven that the right kind of exercise is a key element in helping people suffering from anxiety disorders and insomnia.  It may take self-control and determination to deal with the problem but what is important is that, it is not a hopeless situation.
